CMF/CWF MEETINGS: Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Beland Hall. CWFis looking for the instructor’s manual for the text book they are using this year.  If anyone knows where it is, please contact Darlene Smith-Worthington or Thelma Ankrom.

THANKSGIVING SPECIAL DAY OFFERING will be observed this Sunday and next Sunday. These funds support our Disciples colleges, universities, seminaries and divinity houses. 

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: Samaritan’s Purse shoe boxes are due this Sunday.

THE COMMUNITY ANGEL TREE will be set up in the Family Life Center by November 21.   If you’d like to help a child in need, select an “angel” from the tree in the Family Life Center, sign your name on the sign-out sheet, purchase & wrap the suggested gift(s), place the “angel” on the box and place the gift under the tree by December 14.  For more information, contact Barbara Engleby or Rev. CMF/CWF BBQ CHICKEN FUNDRAISER LUNCH: Saturday, November 22, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Menu: bbq chicken, slaw, potatoes, rolls, tea and dessert - $7.00 per plate.  Tickets available from any CMF/CWF member or June in the church office.

YOUTH MEETINGS AND “A LOOK AT THE BOOK” BIBLE STUDY: November 23 at 5:00 p.m.

CABINET/BOARD MEETING CHANGES: Due to the Thanksgiving holidays, the November 25 Cabinet meeting has been canceled and a Called Board Meeting will take place on December 9 to vote on the proposed 2009 budget and slate of church officers.

OFFICE SCHEDULES: Pastor Goff will be on vacation November 24-28 and Monday, December 1.  (He will lead the services on November 30.)  The church offices will be closed Thursday & Friday, November 26 & 27 for Thanksgiving.  June also has some unused vacation time and will most likely be taking it on Fridays here & there throughout the remainder of the year.

HANGING OF THE GREENS: On Sunday, November 30, the first Sunday of Advent, during the 11:00 worship, we will decorate our church for the celebration of Christmas.

LOCAL OUTREACH:This week your generous gifts assisted a disabled elderly man pay his utility bill.  He could not pay all of it because he had to get some propane gas for heat and cooking.  This gentleman lived across the street from our church many years ago, but that house has long since been torn down.      “In moments of surprise, we catch at least a glimpse of the joy to which gratefulness opens the door”.   ----David Steindl-Rest (Gratefulness, The Heart of Prayer)
